How to use File-A-Wax Ring Tubes & Rods

Ferris File-A-Wax is available in five formulations to accommodate your widest range of design needs. It can be easily carved, shaped and even machined to reproduce the most intricate of design details. In order to facilitate the design process, File-A-Wax is available in a wide range of shapes and forms. This tutorial shows the use of ring tubes & rods.


Step 1
Calipers are used to accurately measure the proper ring tube length to accommodate the finish design size. plus an overall 15% extra to allow for shaping, etc.

Step 2
A rough cut is made using a jewelers saw.

Step 3
Filing down the Ring Tube segment creates the rough shape of the finished piece and readies the piece for design work.

Step 4
Finish ring design work can be accomplished many ways such as with shaping tools, knives, or other devices.

Step 5
Attaching a wire wax to serve as a sprue is the final step before casting or creating a pattern.
